UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT VETTING REQUIREMENT
The University of Limerick offers a number of undergraduate and taught postgraduate educational and training programmes that require students to undertake placements, with external agencies, which may bring them into contact with children and vulnerable adults and to assume positions of trust. To ensure the protection of the public and justify public trust and confidence, the University is committed to ensuring that only suitable candidates are allowed to undertake these programmes.
In accordance with the National Vetting Bureau (Children & Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012-2016 and with UL’s Student Vetting Policy, there is a statutory requirement for all students on programmes that include a placement involving work with children or vulnerable adults to be vetted.

Confirm your programme Provisional Enrolment as part of the Online Enrolment Process.
Complete the enclosed Vetting Invitation Form (NVB 1) in accordance with the Guidelines for completing Vetting Invitation Form (NVB1).
Complete, but do not sign, the UL Photographic Identity Certification Form (1). This must be signed in front of the Certifying Officer at the Student Vetting session during Orientation.
If you are under 18 years of age – your Parent/Guardian needs to complete and sign the National Vetting Bureau Parent/Guardian Consent Form (NVB 3).
If you have lived outside of Ireland for more than 6 months since over the age of 16 years, or if you are a UK/International student, you will need to submit an International Police Clearance from the Country/or Countries. Please apply for Police Clearance Certificates in good time as it can be a lengthy process.
DO NOT POST. Keep a copy for yourself, and bring the originals of all requested documents to the Student Vetting Session during Orientation where they will be collected from you.
IMPORTANT - in order to verify your identity, all students will be required to produce their Passport, Driving Licence (credit card size only) or National ID Card AND their UL Student ID Card at the Student Vetting Session during Orientation. This is a requirement of the National Vetting Bureau and your Vetting Invitation cannot be processed unless these documents are produced for verification.
UL will then process your Vetting Invitation through the National Vetting Bureau who will send you an email link to complete the full Vetting Application Form online. Full details of any convictions or criminal prosecutions (past or pending) must be included. It is imperative that no false information is furnished. Failure to do so may result in you not being allowed to undertake your practice placement. This online application should be completed immediately.
When you have been vetted, your Course Director will be informed.
Please note that your registration remains provisional until you have complied with the UL Student Vetting requirements. Further details on UL Student Vetting process can be found at: http://www.ulsites.ul.ie/executive/student-vetting
