Leaving Cert Experiments What Comes Next?

Recent reports from the Leaving Certificate physics papers indicate that questions designed to assess experimental skills are the most frequently and best answered on the exam papers. Candidates display excellent skills in explaining the proper use of equipment, as is shown in their drawing of the experimental apparatus set-up, but show limited skills in the manipulation and use of experimental data.
The Department of Physics plan on running a pilot workshop to give students an opportunity to revise their report writing skills

This 2½ hour workshop  will focus on the following:
• Sections and structure of a lab report
• How to write up and analyze the results obtained
• Plotting graphs – determine the correct scales and units
• Analysis of the graph
• Understanding experimental error
Date: Wednesday 17th April
Time: 11h00 – 13h30
Location: C0-078, Department of Physics, UL
Limited to 20 participants and booking is essential
