Campus Engage National Student Volunteer Working Group

The Campus Engage National Network is led by the 7 Irish Universities and DIT. It has been set up to promote civic and community engagement as a core function of Higher Education on the island of Ireland, by better enabling Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), their staff and students across all disciplines, to engage with the needs of the communities they serve.  Campus Engage has a number of active national working groups covering community-based learning; volunteering and student-led engagement; engaged research and metrics and evaluation, - set up to embed civic engagement practice and policy on and off campus. The Working Group Convenors role is to  prioritise and deliver activities in a manner that is strategic, inclusive, and innovative.

The CLO contributed to the design and deliver of studetvolunteer.ie and the establishment of the National Student Volunteer Working Group http://www.campusengage.ie/. The CLO promotes civic engagement through volunteering across the HE sector   We do so by:

  • Working collaboratively with civic engagement practitioners across the HE sector.
  • Maintaining, instructing and promoting the use of www.studentvolunteer.ie/ul.
  • Promoting Campus Engage related activities through our social media tool; FB, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Attending national working group meetings and contributing to strategic planning, their role out, civic engagement through volunteering policies and practices at both national and local levels.
  • Reporting on all volunteering initiatives, practices and student/community engagement activities
